We can't just look at the numbers in a roundup like this. Sometimes, coming in first on a few tests and close to it on others is good enough if the rest of bundle is outstanding, and that's what MPC Computers has delivered in the MPC Millennia 920i Creative Studio.

Like the Gateway, this 3.2-GHz machine has true SATA RAID 0 implemented on the motherboard with 160GB drives. It's the choice of other goodies, however, that gives this machine that final bit of edge into the lead. Most notably, the 19-inch Samsung LCD is breathtaking. With a response time just under 25 ms and super bright output, this is a panel that no one entering a room will miss. The speakers—the booming Creative Inspire 6600 6.1 set—and the 6.1-capable Audigy 2 can drive them.

Video editing with the Samsung panel is an excellent experience, and one that the system is ready to offer. Pinnacle Studio 8 comes with the machine, and FireWire ports are on the front and rear. Whatever you create can be burned to every format, too, thanks to a multiformat DVD?RW drive. A standard 48X CD-RW is included as well.

More mundane productivity is supported with Microsoft Office XP Small Business suite. Considering how much more you get for the money than with the similarly priced Dell, it's clear that MPC Computers has found a winning formula for bringing 3.2-GHz magic home.
