Samsung’s first three-day global developers conference will kick off Oct. 27 in San Francisco.
A teaser page includes the dates (Oct. 27-29), location (Westin St. Francis), and an option for developers and attendees to sign up for an email notification when the full registration site officially opens later this summer.
Other than that, the site merely teases developers with the promise of engaging with industry leaders, collaborating with fellow developers, and learning about new Samsung tools and SDKs.
“Create what’s next,” the page said.
A company spokesman confirmed in an email that the conference isn’t just about mobile. “This will be a major, Samsung-wide, cross-product (multi-screen) developer event,” he said.
There is no word on whether that will include a crack at Boxee, the streaming set-top box firm Samsung acquired early this month.
In May, Samsung announced its Smart App Challenge 2013, a contest aimed at finding new Galaxy S 4 apps that utilize group communication functionality in interesting ways. The contest runs from June 20 until Aug. 31 and is open to all mobile app developers across the globe.
In February, Samsung also unveiled a Silicon Valley innovation center and two funds worth $1.1 billion that are intended to help find the “next big thing” in tech.
