Samsung Selling Red 7-Inch Galaxy Tab 2
Just in time for Valetine’s Day, Samsung is offering a garnet red version of its Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0).
The special edition version of Samsung’s 7-inch tablet will retail for $219.99 with a matching red garnet case. It will be available for a limited time at Walmart, Amazon.com, Office Depot, Fry’s, Tiger Direct, Toys R Us, and other retailers.
The Galaxy Tab 2 made its debut about a year ago as the follow-up to Samsung’s original 7-inch tablet. It was the first tablet to debut with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but it has since been updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
The tablet features a 1-GHz, dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and a 1024-by-600 LCD display. There’s also a VGA lens on the front and a 3-megapixel setup on the back. A microSD slot supports up to 32GB of additional storage.
With the Smart Remote app and built-in IR blaster, users can turn the Galaxy Tab 2 into a remote control.
Samsung senior vice president Michael Abary said the red version of the Galaxy S III smartphone was “incredibly well-received,” so the company opted to extend the option to its tablet lineup as well.
Starting Feb. 14, meanwhile, Verizon will offer a red Nokia Lumia 822 and pink Motorola Droid Razr M.
The 7-inch and 10-inch Galaxy Tab 2 are still available in black or white, as is the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet with S Pen.
