Nikon Coolpix L11

(4 out of 5)

MSRP: $149

A strong performer in both indoor and outdoor shots.

Review date: May 23, 2007

Nikon's Coolpix L11 delivers good performance and a sleek design with a budget-friendly price tag. This 6-MP shooter includes a 3X optical zoom, a 2.4-inch LCD, 16 scene modes, in-camera cropping, red-eye removal, and manual controls (including an ISO setting of 800). On our tests, the Coolpix L11 performed admirably in both indoor and outdoor shots. Colors looked accurate, and the focus was sharp. There was a bit too much magenta in our tulip test photo, which actually made the flowers appear orange. Although the Coolpix L11 starts up in less than two seconds, it takes a tedious five to six seconds between shots. VGA video at 30 fps proved watchable, but wasn't as good as footage we've taken with other higher-end digicams like the Casio Exilim EX-1000.
