Peripheral and accessory maker Kensington has introduced a slew of notebook, mobile phone, and computing accessories for the upcoming holiday season—because nothing makes a better gift for the tech-savvy members of your social circle than a little bit of gadgetry, right?
Listen to Music Anywhere

Taking your music with you used to be as easy as popping the cassette out of your home tape player and into your car, boombox, or Walkman. Not so any more. Though the rise of the MP3 has made it possible to download albums in seconds, share them with your friends, and fit millions of songs in a single box, the actual process of getting it from off a desktop hard drive and playing it somewhere else has taken a step backward in simplicity. But that's quickly changing, as a plethora of services and gadgets have sprung up to fill the void. Leave Bon Jovi at home no more. Let's take a look at some of the ways you can get your music off your desktop.Living RoomUnless you home computer happens t...Read | Permalink | Linking Blogs

Bose Tweaks Noise Reduction in QuietComfort 15 Headphones

If you live or work in lcoations with a ton of extraneous mouse (the author look meaningfully out the window at the rumbling carpet cleaning van 15 yards away), noise-cancelling headphones can be a godsend if you need to be able to hear details in audio or music, rather than just recognize bits and pieces as they go by. To that end, high-end audio company Bose has announced its QuietComfort 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones, which improve on the active and passive noise reduction and cancellation technologies in earlier models to deliver improved audio quality across a wide range of frequencies in even noisier environments."We believe the QuietComfort 15 headphones offer a combinRead | Permalink | Linking Blogs

IOGear Wireless USB Video Audio Kit

Replacing a video and audio cable are no less than three dongles and gizmos requiring a tangle of cables to hook everything together. The end result? Cable clutter gets pushed into view and the consumer is left with more configuration and setup than it might be worth. Great at very targeted applications, but only for diehard techies.

Pirate Bay Fires Video Bay Across YouTube's and Hulu's Bows

The folks behind the infamous Pirate Bay site (which tracks BitTorrent feeds worldwide) are apparently getting ready to fire another shot across the bow of the so-called Content Cartel with Video Bay, and experimental site that aims to provide high-definition in-browser via using new features in HTML 5 (like the <video> and <audio> tags) to stream content directly to users without making them wait for massive content to download first. And, in true Pirate Bay fashion, the site doesn't seem very concerned with only providing access to material that's being distributed with permission of copyright holders.Read | Permalink | Linking Blogs

Gefen, Inc. GefenTV Wireless HDMI Extender 5Ghz

GefenTV uses wireless 802.11n to do its thing and operates in the unlicensed 5GHz band to transmit HDTV. For sure the GefenTV isn't for everyone; if your HDTV isn't wall mounted or your A/V components aren't separated away from the display, there's little need to pay this price just to hide the cables. But if you're looking to cut loose without giving up on HD, it sure beats running cables under carpets or along baseboards, or poking holes in walls or ceilings. So while it might be called a "one-trick pony", it's fair to say that the GefenTV does a competent job of delivering high-definition video and multichannel audio through the airwaves.

RBH Speakers RBH Sound MC-6AW Outdoor Speaker

At first I was mainly thinking of the RBH Sound MC-6AW as patio speakers but upon setting them up for some listening tests I discovered ?indoor? possibilities as well. They shared many of the sonic virtues of my larger floorstander reference speakers and their performance absolutely bellied their asking price. As I listened, over and over I kept forgetting that these were small indoor/outdoor speakers and kept thinking they sounded better than some speakers I?ve reviewed from more prestigious brands costing several thousands of dollars. The MC-6AW?s can be used in multiple environments. They would be great mounted on the wall next to an on-wall television in either a bedroom or a family room. You could also class up your pool parties by using them on your pool deck or any patio. Just be careful not to make your audiophile friends too envious when they hear such great sound outdoors which ordinarily wouldn?t seem possible.
