QUIT WORKING ENTIRELY after 1 year 2 months.

Pros: Worked great for first 12 months in all respects.
Cons: After 12 months, its dead; NO sound quality or picture quality at ALL.
The Bottom Line: Avoid Panasonic brand name for DVD recorders, until they prove themselves again by making ones lasting more than 12 months.

DMREZ27 could be better

Pros: Cheap at auction. Free Digital TV programming with 5.1 surround. Records like a VCR.
Cons: Confusing navigation. Tuner glitches when channel surfing. No 5.1 recording.
The Bottom Line: If you can get a bargain, it's a good DTV tuner and DVD recorder, but you will have to deal with frustrating navigation. It was cheap. It works.

Does the job, could use a few improvements

Pros: Good picture quality, even when playing back recorded HD (but it's not "true" HD quality)
Cons: Noisy drive
The Bottom Line: Bottom line, this is a good choice for anyone who needs a basic DVD recorder that can record digital channels but doesn't need HD quality.
