Bose 601 Series IV...A Bitter Disappointment...Bring Back The Free Space Array!

Pros: Great looks! Sturdily built. Well written Owner's Manual.
Cons: Constricted sound. IV-A major downhill slide for what was once a well respected model!
The Bottom Line: What was once a top notch first rate line of sound reproducers...the Bose 601-IV is now simply a sad reminder of how this company is slipping into mediocrity.

Best sounding Bose stereo speakers

Pros: Sweet spot is throughout the room, best bass for it's size.
Cons: Mixed feeling about the looks.
The Bottom Line: I have two friends who are sound professionals, they work in a studio editing recordings. They have bought Bose 601's for their own home use, that says a lot!

Bose 601 Speakers: Better than the 701s, but still not that great

Pros: sound better than the Bose 701s; mellow, inoffensive sound
Cons: diffuse imaging; mediocre microdynamics; slightly cheesy look
The Bottom Line: The Bose 601s aren't as bad as the Bose 701s, but they are not competitive with the best speakers in the $600 price range.

New Generations Bose, a true dissapointment

Pros: Fairly compact, look current, not much else
Cons: overpriced, under-achievers, terrible imaging, muddy, dissapointing
The Bottom Line: Substandard and overpriced just ring through the air. Don't waste your time, the days when Bose had peaked are long gone.
