Probably a reliable long-term investment
Pros: Solidly built, has seperate analog outputs for each drawer.
Cons: As far as I could tell, does not have synchro-record for external digital sources.
The Bottom Line: I would buy it if--1. Current plans to block all digital copying of CDs don't go thru. 2. Synchro recording from external digital sources is possible.

Beware first-generation models from anyone.
Pros: It can record music on CD-Rs and CD-RWs.
Cons: Poor user ergonomics, extremely poor response time to user commands, some functions remote-only, other issues.
The Bottom Line: The RCD-W1 is fine if all you want to do is make straight dupes of CDs. But don't expect to "author" custom CDs--it will send you from the room screaming.

Competent Performer; but there's Much Better
Pros: Ability to use as two independent cd players.
Cons: Below average ergonomics. Mediocre auto indexing. Only has TosLink Digital inputs. Slow reacting remote!
The Bottom Line: I can't recommend this unit at the present state of technology. With a poor user interface and average sound quality, there's better to be had.

The Sony RCD-W1 CD Recorder and its Professional recordings.
Pros: High and Normal speed dubbing, Crystal clear recordings, its a Dual tray recording stystem.
Cons: A little slow startup play, A bit complicated to learn everything about it.
The Bottom Line: If your looking for CD Recorder, PLease get the Sony CDR-W1. It makes crystal clear recordings, in a short amount of time. Also, its probably the best value.
