Expen$ive Learning Curve

Pros: Large cabinet, widescreen, huge amounts of inputs and outputs.
Cons: re-occurring expensive repair, HDTV unavailable through my cable provider.
The Bottom Line: I would avoid the WS-55809 based on my experience and what I have read. I would further do massive research before buying any television over $300.

Pros: Beautiful picture, sturdy cabinets, enough features for everyone.
Cons: Wide screen format makes traditional picture look funny
The Bottom Line: It's sturdy, handsome, and works better than you expect -- and it should for the price. If you can afford it, get it, you won't be disappointed.

Mitsubishi has out done itself

Pros: awesome picture even using analog cable television, great features and options
Cons: all analog television is transmitted in 4:3 aspect ratio
The Bottom Line: Buy this tv only if you want to have the Mitsubishi quality and dependability to last you may years, and with Mit's upgradabilty promise you can't go wrong
