If you're thinking about going from PC to Mac... DON'T.

(1.00 out of 5) by dca98 on May 28, 2003

Pros: OS doesn't crash, looks great on the desk.
Cons: Browser crashes frequently and loss of control during downloading is really annoying.
The Bottom Line: This machine, like OSX, is at best, a work in progress. I'd rather have "SARS" than another Mac.

After a couple of terrible Gateway products we decided to try the Mac. What we expected was: 1) ...

Pros: Excellent screen, small footprint, iApps, OSX
Cons: Upgrades, System lag

15 computers and I've finally found "Her".

(5.00 out of 5) by stevens_ce on Apr 18, 2003

Pros: I'd like to look that good. Rock-solid construction. Plenty of power
Cons: 17" screen is the right choice. Not the best for bright areas. More RAM Good!
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this computer to all but the most power-hungry users. It's solid, fast, reliable, durable, trustworthy, friendly and kind. In short, it's the perfect mate in polycarbonite.

I have had my 15" G4 iMac (512MB RAM/60GB HD/SuperDrive) since August of last year, and it is by far ...

(4.00 out of 5) by mosquito70001 on Mar 9, 2003

Pros: Spacious screen and deliciously quiet. Reliable.
Cons: Some software is slightly below par -- Internet Explorer, Appleworks word processing.
The Bottom Line: only 4 stars because, as a semi-pro, I know which software has NOT been upgraded for so long. Bottom line: 17" iMac is great.

The 17" iMac is the way to go, if you have the budget. Mac OS 10 is reliable. There are ...

Super Discounts Available now--iMac G4 800MHz Combo Drive

(4.00 out of 5) by pilotpat on Mar 2, 2003

Pros: Stability of OS X, Screen quality, speed, ease of use/setup
Cons: Transition pains from Windows, Limited 3d party software, single-button mouse, needs more USB ports
The Bottom Line: Overall: Highly recommended for business/academic/Internet uses. I can't make a positive or negative recommendation for gamers. More expensive than similar-performing PC's (but not so much if you compare high-quality units).

Note: I wrote this review a while ago, when the 800 MHz iMac G4 was the top of the line iMac. I am s ...
