Mitsuba DV5 Plus

I bought a new digital/camcorder camera, the Mitsuba DV5 Plus. The problem: I removed and replaced the flash card while the camera was on and it shut itself off. Now it is completly dead. Will not turn on. Tried new batteries - nothing... Did I short something out? Now it is worthless. Anybody have this same problem? Thanks

My 1st reaction is to ask you if you have the receipt because it should be under a 1 yr. mfg. warranty. I have one myself but I have had problems with the display saying MEMORY FULL just as I would take just one picture with nothing else on the card. I got a 512MB CF card and that solved that problem, if you would come across that. But the 1st thing I would check is where you put in the batteries, make sure the contacts are intact and the contacts where it slides into is correct also. Also, maybe one of the pins that the CF card goes into could possibly be bent, you may want to try a different card, but that shouldn't be the problem if you are just using the USB cable connected.
Hope that helps some.

Thanks for the info. The F.A.Q. in manual says it has shut down abnormally. No info on how to fix. I bought it on e-bay,negitive contact with seller. There is no warranty info with manual or on box. So I dont even know where to send it for warranty. Anybody know of a manufacters web site?

I'm sure there are better products, and I'm sure they cost a lot more. The Mitsuba is my first camcorder, and I generally don't think that affordable, nonprofessional camcorders are very good yet. What I want to know is is anyone satisfied with the quality of the stills and day time videos that this camera takes? Are the pictures equally as good when using the zoom? What about the sound on videos?

The camera worked great. Stills and video, sound were all clear. The camera itself is cheaply made. I thought it would break every time I changed the batteries. Use caution and dont do what I did, remove flash card while camera is on. Now it sits brand new in its box because it never worked again after that. I was unable to find anyone to repair it. They told me to throw it in the trash, it was junk to begin with.

What a drag!!!! it gets WORSE!!! My neighbor came and asked me to see if I could fix his camera that went cold dead. I am the local techie. Anyway his was a ,get this, SONY brand DV5 PLUS. After many emails with sony and coaxing, turns out Sony does not make this product and refered me to a Mitsuba. It is the same EXACT camera with the same labels but instead of Mitsuba it said SONY. I can now contact my neighbor and let him know the bad news. I guess you tried the new flashcard like it said, right?

What a weiner! Do you sell Olympus? Thought So! We were talking about a problem of a specific camera type .

Can someone please send me a copy of the insturction manual or tell me where I can get a copy off the net? I'm trying to figure out how to work this thing, and though most of it seems simple enough, I would like to be able to do more with the camera. My email address is: shelbylovesali@yahoo.com or newhopeshelby@yahoo.com. Either addy would work fine. I would be so grateful if I could get this info.

http://mxhaard.free.fr/spca50x/Doc/Sunplus/spca533a/SPCA-533A.pdf

http://www.epn-online.com/page/15197/power-solution-for-one-or-two-cell-battery- applications-battery-status-indicator.html?sid=6267f240056a9982e5cd5fc78b18d898#

Hi everybody! I was referred to this site by someone at Ebay. He thought someone here may be able to help me. I have a Mitsuba DV5, which for all intents and purposes is brand new. I purchased it for my mom, who then passed away. The problem is, I intend on selling this camera via Ebay, and when I went through the box to make sure everything was as it should be, I found that the users manual is no where to be found. The person who referred me here said someone may be able to help me, even if it was by e-mailing me a copy, which I could then print out or something, or ultimately direct me to where I can get an original copy. Please, can anyone out there help a girl out? Thanks in advance!! My e-mail is kathy.hi@comcast.net

A friend has a "Sony" DV8 camera.

It looks identical (including labels) to the Protex DV55F (described as a DV5 upgrade) that is manufactured in China by Queen Lines (XM) camera Co Ltd:
http://www.fuzing.com/vli/000067e8a286/Digital_Camcorder_DV55F__20_colour_LCD_pa nel_with_360degree_rotation

There is also an online contact at this site. Perhaps they might be able to supply manuals/advice?

My friend has tried to get me to ebay her DV5, i have refused based upon what i have found out so far. Hers is badged as Panasonic TEC05D (australia).

The quality of this camera is abismal at best. Its video recording is 320x200, my sony cyber shot p100 has better video quality (it does 640x480! and its a digital still camera!!!).

The camera does not use the top lens, nor the viewfinder. Which means it all runs off the cmos camera under the lens, which has no lens on itself. This leads to the worst picture quality you'll ever see.

The included 16MB SD card will allow you to record about 30 seconds of video. A 1GB SD card (which will get you around 22minutes will cost your around $250, which could well have been spent on a better camera.

I have the manual with it, but there is nothing special in the manual, all of it you can figure out for yourself. I doesn't even have references to the make or model of the camera.

I reckon that some budget cheap assed comapny made these camera, stopped production half way through, and then badged them with well known brands to flog them off to poor individuals.

I you have bought one, punch the person you bought it off. Please pass this onto anyone who might be thinking about a DV5. Post this on all eBay people trying to sell a DV5. Stop this monstrosoty now!

So please do contact me direct with my email address. I won't know how to get to this website after closing it. I do not know if there is any card like flash card separate from Memory Card, I have 512 memory card that can permit me take 930 pictures and some video. My problem is the flash, I can't take pictures in the dark... Please help me.

After reading all of your feedback reguarding this P&$ce of $h!t camera... after 5 minutes, and a simple insertion and removal of the memory card, its over, no support, many generic and brand names for the same camera... so the short of it is, if you bought one....YOU GOT SCREWED..

If you want one.... Im selling mine along with other useless items...

If your considering buying one of these... do this..

goto google and search " MITSUBA support ", try as many other search engines as u wish....and not only will you have wasted money, but now countless amounts of time.

Its nothing more than a broken look pretty, waiting to be thrown away

I received the Mitsuba MV300M as a B-day gift and it has worked fine for the last 6 months and still does with the exception of a problem that started a few days ago. I turn the camera on and everything in the display window looks like a picture negitive, but when I take the memory card out and view the contents on my computer everything looks fine. With the display window looking as it does it is very hard to see what I'm recording. Any suggestions other then it a piece of Crap, this I know alreay. Just would like to figure out what is wrong and find out if anyone else has had the same issue.

Received a Mitsuba DV500 fo X-mas. Pictures and video are acceptable however, this thing doesnt compare to my 'old' 3.1 megapixel Fuji finepix.
As many of you have found out, there is a warranty card included, but no address or phone #. Included is a 3.7v Li-Ion battery, and a box that is supposed to hold two double AA batterys...kicker is two AA batteries = 3v so you guessed it...useless. The CD only has the driver and NO aditional software.

The manufacturer (or buyout co?} is KONAKI and according to their site this camera is a model DV7.

So my Mitsuba LV500 is actually a KONAKI DV7.
Hope this helps some of you. If anyone can find any additional info or usefull tips on operating this camera kindly mail me - aescallier@hvc.rr.com

I have a Mitsuba MV300M. The toggle switch/button that moves the "cursor" to different pictures and menu items now only goes side to side, not up and down. Therefore I can not delete any of my pictures, as the "cursor" won't go down. After reading all these posts, I don't have much confidence I'm going to get this fixed. But if anyone can help, please post your response for me. Thanks.

Remove the SD card, place it in your PC or printers SD slot, and delete your photos that way.
Or if your using the internal memory have you tried the master reset?

If you have a media(SD) card reader on you PC its usually found on the front panel, above or below the CD drive. You may not have one. If not, check your printer. Most of the newer HP printers for example have card readers built in. And if all else fails run over to radio shack/Circuit City/or a Best Buy and pick one up. While there look for a better camera...

Do anyone know where I can find the plastic battery box "Powerbox" for my Mitshuba DV-304? The box just melted. My husband bought this camcorder for my birthday and now it is no good to me. We found it a pawnshop which the tag on it said "CANON". For the money I thought that I was getting a good deal as well as a very good camcorder. Boy was I wrong. Took it back to the pawnshop and show them what had happen and I was told to call Canon. Called Canon told them what had happen and they told me that they did not make this camcorder. Searching the internet I discovered the real name of the camcorder and that is "MITSUBA". Someone had stuck the labe Canon on the camcorder. Now I have a camcorder that is totally 100% useless, however }unless I find a "Powerbox".
