Who wants to see Kimbo fight UFC and beat the F*CK out of Tito Ortiz? Tito was on ESPN saying if Kimbo fought any top tier UFC fighters he would get destroyed. What do you all think? I personally just like Kimbo a lot and respect him making it out of the hood, but I don't really follow MMA at all.
If you think Kimbo would beat either tito or rampage, you have no idea about MMA. Kimbo is terrible, he got his @ss handed to him by sean white. Kimbo's two fights so far have been agaisnt retired has been fighters. Kimbo is a bum and always will be one.
"Tito was on ESPN saying if Kimbo fought any top tier UFC fighters he would get destroyed. What do you all think?"
Tito was right. What Tito doesn't realize though is that "top tier" doesn't include him! I'd give Kimbo about a 20% chance to beat Tito, and about a 2% chance to beat Rampage. No way is he even close to being ready to fight a guy like Rampage.
Reece if you did follow MMA maybe you wouldn't admire Kimbo so much. He didn't earn his spot by any means, he is a gimic who happens to be an OK fighter. It's not like he worked his way up the ranks and earned his spot. He is headlining pay-per-views because he got famous on youtube for being a scary/crazy looking huge muscular guy who beat up a few nobodys off the street.
Kimbo is not that bad for a noob to MMA. His problem is going to be his lack of diversity in his fighting skills. He is a boxer, thats it. He has no kicks, ground work, submissions. I would not count him out cause any one can win in MMA, but his chances do get a little thin compared to top tier fighters like chuck lidel.
I don't really respect any MMA fighters. I respect Kimbo for coming from nothing and finding a way to ebcome successful. He seemed like a cool dude on ESPN while most MMA fighters I have seen in interviews look and act like HUGE f*gs. If i could without getting my azz beat I would slug the sh1t out of Tito Ortiz for thinking he's such a badass.
I respect their athletic abilities, but like you said I don't follow so I don't know these guys backgrounds or anything. All I know if 99% of them act like huge tools, namely Tito Ortiz. The dude thinks he's so raw. The only thing raw about him is his d1ck from all the diseases Jenna Jameson gave him.
AGREED! Pornstars gross me out for the most part. I mean they serve a vital purpose for the sake of... Relief. But yeah I don't find most of them actually attractive whatsoever. Jenna has a soft spot in my heart though something about her.
Anyways i still don't get what you're saying at all Reece. Seems to me that you made a silly blanket statement for the sake of being dramatic. 99% of mma fighters are "huge tools", but how many could you even name like 5?
99% are tools? Look at chuck liddell, randy Couture, quinton jackson, forrest griffin, matt serra, these guys are the most down to earth and coolest guys around. I could keep naming guys who can be looked at as role models all day. Yes there are a few people who can seem to be a little obnoxious, tito ortiz seems to be the guy everyone here is hating on but what sport doesnt have the typical a**hole in it.
I made that statement STRICTLY on the after fight interviews I've seen. Like I said, I don't watch MMA that much and I would NEVER pay to see one of the huge fights, but from the stuff I see on Spike TV and ESPN and such I think a lot of the guys are cocky azzholes. I did see a Pros vs. Joes with Randy Couture and he seemed like a cool dude. I am just saying most MMA fighters say "NO boxer would last a second in the ring with guys like us." They seem to think they are the epitome of greatness. Just my opinion, no reason to get your p*nties in a wad. I am certainly not being dramatic.
You're right Cavs, most sports have huge azzholes who play, but most sports also have a ridiculous amount of people involved. There are 100x more MLB baseball players than there are UFC fighters so it just seems like there's a large percentage of guys who think they are God's gift to Earth.
Recce, I don't know you at all so I won't pretend to know your background. You every take any martial arts? Any thing that involves kicking, grappling? If you haven't then you really are not in the position to completely dismiss the idea that boxers would not do well against MMA people. Boxing is a fighting style that uses a very small box of moves and a whole bunch of rules. Take Ali in his prime against Lidell and Ali would very likely get a wake up call though he has a chance to still win. There are many MMA fighters that are worth respecting and most come from actual martial arts training backgrounds. Georges St. Pierre, Cung Li, Randy Couture,Matt Hughes and many others. If you are judging MMA by after fight interviews than I could say that NASCAR is g@y and full of retarded hicks, the NBA is full of black gang bangers that got out of the hood to make millions, the US Olympic sprinters are all @ssholes that trash the honor of their own country but those would all be absolutely false and above all bigoted. The reason there are "so many" people in MLB is because you have 65 players total on each team. You have many Major league teams, then you have the minors. You have 16 major league teams which makes a little over a thousand Major league players and that does not count the minors. You have ONE fighter for themselves. Here is an unofficial list of MMA fighters: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_male_mixed_martial_artists
Yea I am probably over reacting but I hope that you can see that making blanket statements from the little info you have is not a great idea.
Nascar is g@y and full of retarded hicks and the NBA is full of black gang bangers that got out of the hood to make millions, and US Olympic sprinters are @ssholes that trash the honor of their country.
I know numbers. That is why it seems that a lot of MMA fighters are tools. Okay, I never expected this. I just saw the Kimbo Slice thing on E:60 and it made me like the guy and made me hate Tito Ortiz. I really know nothing of the skill or tactics involved with MMA, but whatever. I'm wrong everyone else is right. No sarcasm intended, I swear. I really don't know about MMA so I guess I shouldn't comment on it. I have however taken martial arts classes before and I still think Ali in his prime would destroy most MMA fighters (minus their roids)((I can tell this will open up another HUGE debate)) because he is so big and quick. I also think Roy Jones, Jr. would be able to compete.
Judge me with whatever it doesn't matter, he basic point I was trying to make is that I like Kimbo, Tito is a douchefag that I would fight if I was guaranteed victory, and I hope Kimbo does really well as an MMA fighter.
Reece, I hear where you are coming from. The one thing I like about MMA is that anyone can win and upset the big winner. I agree that alot of MMA people are tools. But you have to remember that it is an outcast sport that is recently becoming mainstream. About a decade ago it was not uncommon to see blood everywhere and broken bones. Crazyass people were involved back then and still now. Once the sport becomes more legitimized as a fighting sport and more mainstream like boxing, wrestling, kick boxing then I think most of the tools will be gone. I think once big time sponsors start to back MMA the tools will have no place in the public eye. I think Kimbo needs more time and fights to see if he is any good. He is definitely raising the profile of MMA.
The Boxers vs. MMA debate is really not very debatable to me.
If a boxer fights an MMA guy in an MMA match, the boxer will get destroyed 99% of the time. Think about it, all the MMA guy has to do is not get knocked out. As soon as the MMA fighter got the boxer in his grasp the boxer would be in a world that he is completely unfamiliar with, the refs don't stop you...you keep fighting.
And i'm not dissing boxers, the same logic applies vice versa. If an MMA fighter were to fight a boxer in a boxing match, the boxer will annialate the MMA fighter most of the time.
HOWEVER, for the sake of debate, i think the MMA fighter would obviously stand a better chance in the boxing match than the boxer stands in the MMA match. The boxer has no experience in wrestling/grappling etc., whereas for the MMA fighter, boxing is a huge part of MMA anyway.
Let me emphasize how DIFFERENT these two sports are though. I think it's asinine when i hear people say "Anderson Silva could dominate his weight class as a boxer". Anderson Silva is a great MMA striker, that doesn't mean he could be a successful boxer. It's really night and day.
This is a bad thread. Honestly Reece, Kimbo shouldn't get your respect. Why respect a guy that went around beating up random street scrubs for money? I do give him props on his publicity but he beat up BUMS. When he fought Sean Gannon(A terrible MMA fighter) Kimbo got his azz handed to him but it was brutal for both guys either way. Tito is just lacing his pockets by his mouth as his last fight in the UFC is going to be soon and his contract will then be over so Tito needs to make money and he will do it this way. Kimbo has some K.O. power and some boxing skills but he's not a well rounded mixed martial artist. Sure, with training anyone can improve but there's no chance for him to face HEAVYWEIGHTS(He's a heavyweight) in the UFC. He'd get destroyed.
He didn't get destroyed by Gannon and the reason you could say he lost is because he didn't have the conditioning to stay in the fight. He fought valiantly with NO PROFESSIONAL TRAINING, though. That's pretty damn good.
Lol Reece, being knocked out for 20 seconds how many times isn't being destroyed? Imagine if Gannon kept hitting him while he was down like they do in the UFC. What do you think would have happened? He'd be either seriously injured or killed.
yeah he had no professional training, thats why there was no knees no chokes and no ground fighting. Everytime Gannon did any of that kimbos crew jumped in but then when it was the other way around it was fine. It was set up as a street fight there was no need for any training. Only advantage Gannon had was the little technique he used. Besides that Kimbo had strength and size advantages. I dont believe Gannon was any more conditioned then Kimbo.
"I dont believe Gannon was any more conditioned then Kimbo."
It can be seen in the video that they were both extremely tired. Gannon was wheezing and super tired. I'm not even sure how any of his punches affected Kimbo haha. ANYHOW, Kimbo hasn't shown any versatility as a fighter so far. I'd like to see his submission and take down defense.
If it's the vid/fight sooo many have seen on the net I believe Kimbo just got wore the fluck out. Normally he bangs his opponents out in 2 minutes or less. Gannon could take a punch and that alone through Kimbo. That plate of a skull and tough looks only goes so far in an endurance fight.
