Berny is correct it all depends on the driver. I could put my wife in a Porsche 911 twin turbo and me in a old school chevy cutlas wagon(vacation stylee) and I could guarentee my victory. lol

Yeah. a kid at my school has an EVO that SICK. He got a carbon hood xenons 17s or 18s under it, custom paint and its the bran new body style. The same kid has an a black and yellow H1 hummer with the rag top, and is rich as hell.

That's why I ask if it is a drag race or street type with slalom.

When I was doing Autocross, a friend of mine was always ragging me on how I always get better times than he does because of my car. We switched cars and I still did better than he did.

I've driven the Blue Sti and the Yellow Evo (and the white teg and the red dels sol) and they are all hella fast but the STi's are faster than the evo.

STi:
0-60 4.6
0-100 12.4
0-130 24.5
1/4 mile 13.2@103mph
5mph-60mph 5.8; top speed 145
braking 70-0 166ft
Noise level (dBA) idle 45, 70mph 74

Mitsubishi Evo:
0-60 5
0-100 13.5
0-130 28.5
1/4 mile 13.6@101mph
5mph-60mph 6.7; top speed 156

just something i found, seems the sti is a little quicker off the line. but im sure it depends on a lot more than that, i dont know much about cars so take it as you wish.

Those are good numbers and matter much on the drag strip. However, those numbers are too close when it comes to the street where the driver take control of the machine.

The fastest time I had on my car was 11.6 @ 123 mph.

The local track where I live is an awesome place to kill a couple of hours. Street night is downright insane. They get these 4 shooters doin' 8's and 9's on their back wheels! Loud as f@ke! The bikes are fun to watch as well. How else are you gonna pull 9's for under $8 grand out of the box?

No, I am not much into getting my rides all tricked out with custom wheels and stuff. I keep the exteriors pretty stock and I spend more on the engine upgrades like bigger turbos and improving the engine.

i dont blame you man, altho i must say i like custom wheels and stuff like that but i do also like the stock look on a lot of rides. and engine mods are always fun, but i dont know about that stuff so i cant say i do any of it. altho i dont do any of the custom stuff either come to think of it, just window tint, thats a must on all of my families cars.

hey guys quick question.

what is power shifting? is it when you don't let go of the gas and just push the clutch in and shift?

lol i drive a stick and i don't even know exactly what it is.

i am losing to automatic v6 honda accords.

The first thing you need to learn is to master the basics of shifting. Power shifting is slamming the shifter in to the power band of your engine's RPM. A lot of inexperienced drivers tend to think of this as mashing the throttle at the highest RPM possible. Not true, this just causes and imbalance on your drive train and causes your clutch to slip and glaze and wear out prematurely.

You need to find out the power band of your car's engine. The RPM at which your engine is generating the peak amount of horses and shift at those points. You will need a dyno for this or just go to the car's specs and look at the power curve. This is the proper use of the shift light. You do nto set it to go on at the redline, you set it for the max engine power.

Master the basics and everything else will fall in place.

yeah it is rather heavy in my car. my box, subs, extra battery, and my amps put about extra 350lbs in my car. not to mention i am not light either. lol.

my rims are 19 inches with 235-19-35 tires. it is actually smaller than my stock. my stock rims are 17 inches with 50 series tires.

There was an old school saying among draggers when trying to lighten their car. "You need to loose one hundred pounds of dead weight in your car to gain a bumper's length of winning...how do you do that? Take a pound off 100 places in your car."

Those 19" rims really rob you of power, man. So don't race, just look good, loud and proud...nothin' wrong with that.

Other night I was out for a drive and this big suv was up in my bumper so I sped up a bit and he sped up a bit and so for. I didn't want to race or anything like that, just trying to get a bit of space. I noticed I was doing 30 over the limit and I looked back and the suv was gone. I looked over to my side and the friggin suv was a cop. He was in a new explorer. He turned on his lights and pulled me over. He asked for my license, insurance and registration. I never had NONE of that on me. Turns out that I was calling around for a better price on insurance earlier and needed all the info for that. I left the house to run to the store and forgot the papers. I let me off with a warning tho because he said he was in a rush. That could have been 3 tickets there alone:

1. Speeding
2. No papers
3. Me being the stupid idiot, I asked him if we wanted a coffee. I bet there is a rule against bribing a cop

ah well, at least I never got a ticket
