New DLP chip details - xHD3

xHD3 details are out. A big disappointment for me - it is not native 1080p (1920x1080) as widely speculated, but a measly 1400x1050p.

In my opinion, such weird resolution (neither 720p nor 1080i) will cause scaling problems: you need to invest in a good image scaler costing 5K-8K to get decent video quality. I would rather put my money on a 720p HD2+ with a killer sound system.

Check out the latest front projector based on this chip at NEWS section of www.digitalprojection.com company website.

There is a popular CE site that is offering to update eager consumers regarding the xHD3 chip, specifically, Samsung's soon to be released HLP6197W. I am excited to hear the latest, especially with the Consumer Electronics Show coming up. If you want, you can sign up to get on the update list. In fact, I think they are even offering a preorder list. Here's the link: http://www.tvauthority.com/DLP-TV-HDTV/Samsung-HL-P6197W.asp?aff=5252

I'm hoping for great things! My Samsung HD2+ unit is already very cool.
