while setting up an rca dlp for a friend i noticed the picture quality was far to grainy. my friend upgraded to digital cable which helped a little but it is still not really exceptable. does anyone else have this problem? is there anything i can do?

Won't matter if the source is digital with either cable or sattelite. It will still be grainy because it's not a Hi-Resolution signal. It will never look like a DVD playing with component cables from a progressive scan machine or a HD signal.
Your friend needs to upgrade to HD cable or HD sattelite if he wants the crisp picture on a DLP.
