Hi guys,

I recently bought this TV from an workmate, sadly, it has an problem with brightness.

The bottom-right corner is the brightest and the brightness fades-out linearly to top-left corner. It has an very clear dark line around the diagonal line.

I entered service mode and found lamp hour is near 3200. Can you tell me whether this is caused by an pre-fail lamp? will change the lamp fix the problem?

Also, the fan is kind of noisy, is it in the same position of the lamp so I can clean it up?

Any help is highly appericated, thanks!

Hi sunyucong,

The problem that youi½re having may be the result of a collapse light tunnel, the light passes through several optical lenses which filters and guides the light all the way into your TV screen, so if a filter collapse then the light will not reach the screen at 100% causing darker areas in your picture. Youi½ll need to replace the light tunnel or the light engine to solve this issue.

This link has a short description of the light tunnel: http://www.oerlikon.com/ecomaXL/index.php?site=OPTICS_EN_lighttunnel

This is how the light passes through the light engine: http://www.oerlikon.com/ecomaXL/index.php?site=OPTICS_EN_dlp_rptv_light_engine

So I think that a new lamp woni½t resolve your problem but you may need one in a couple of months because the lamp lifespan is around 6000 hours (sometimes it could last up to 8000 hours) but if the lamp starts to go bad, youi½ll get the next symptoms:

>You would get audio with no picture
>You would get a dark image in the whole screen
>Youi½ll get audio and video but the TV might turn of after a couple of minutes (this is a rare symptom)

This website has a lamp troubleshooting wizard, it might help to determine if the lamp is bad in the future: http://www.fixyourdlp.com/wizard/wizard.html

Good luck sunyucong.
