I've seen threads similar to this, but I've never seen one that has any solution or indication what the underlying problem is. Apologies if I'm just rehashing an older thread.
I've got a Samsung DLP, the 5087S purchased new in the spring of '07. Sometimes, not always, it will turn itself off (with the melody) shortly after start up. Sometimes the lamp button flashes, sometimes it does not. I can turn it on again right away, and everything will be fine for the duration or the cycle will repeat (on, off with music, maybe the lamp light flashes, maybe not) several times.
I'm getting rather perturbed by this and am looking for a cause and solution or solutions that do not involve me taking the TV to a repair place and asking them to diagnose an intermittent problem - that'll end up costing me too much.
