Hey all.

I've got a clean slate as far as TV source providers go. I'm moving to a new home which doesn't have a pre-existing dish and Comcast is the cable provider in the area.

I've heard good things about Dish Network's ViP622 HD DVR, but I am reluctant to go with anything but the Tivo Series3. My wife would like to avoid the $600-$800 purchase price for the Tivo though. I currently have DirecTV and the standard definition Tivo on a Mitsu HDTV w/ DVI, but no tuner.

Does anyone have some recent experience with both (or either) that they can add to the debate?

I wouldn't recommend any purchase of any HD recorders at present time. DTV or DN or i/o Cable you can't go wrong. Try Optimum on Line Phone, Internet and Cable for $90 (best value in the market with no contracts)
It is what I got
