Bear with me please. My husband is trying connect our satellite receiver (dish network) along with our existing Motorola digital cable receiver to our tv. Since we have a complete home theater system everything runs through our Yamaha receiver. He used a "switch" to connect both the digital receiver and the satellite and it was working fine except we can not get the satellite picture in color, only black and white. The cable picture is fine. Just to add, we tried connecting the satellite to a tv that does not have the cable - the satellite picture was perfect - color and sound
We are missing something and can't figure out what it is. Help

Wiring problem
B/W can be result of NTSC/PAL selection
But I do think one of the wires via HD coming from or to one of the RGB component port

possible isuues:
Wrong wiring to or from switch
Bad cables or wrong cables to TV port
S-VHS might have bent or broken pin or just bad S-VHS
Bad Switch connector

For HD you need
5-wire cable Red Green Blue + Left/Right for audio
known as RGB component +L/R for audio
Or HDMI for true optical connection but RGB is OK if using switch

Don't worry about that
If you are using genuine box by Dish Net it will be NTSC for USA

But above post about possible wirring you may want to recheck

we tried replacing all the cables and still no color. now we actually think there is a problem with the tv. it is a Sony Rear Projection big screen and relatively old. more suggestions?
