the TV I have is a 1080p native TV. I have heard that this means that any HD signal is displayed at 1080p through up conversion. I understand that a 720p signal upconverted to 1080p will not look as good as a true 1080p signal, but will a 1080i signal (like a broadcasted one from an antenna) displayed progressively look exactly like a true 1080p signal.

The short answer is YES!
A 720P signal is scaled extremely well too.
I doubt you could tell the difference.

It's a little different for film shot in 24fps, but a live 1080i HD broadcast is deinterlaced very nicely to true 1080P by your specific model.

That's really saying something since 55% of all HD models fail the deinterlace test.
