First of all -- thank you to everyone who has posted so much great information regarding transferring VHS tapes to DVD. I went from complete ignorance on the subject to successfully transferring in no time!

My question is this: does using the S-video instead of the composite cables result in better quality DVD's when transferring from pre-recorded video? I would like to get the best quality out of my tapes as possible but I do not have a VCR with S-video connections and wanted to be sure it was worth getting one.

I appreciate any input :-)

With the low resolution of VHS, there probably wouldn't be a significant difference. You'd have to go up to a VHS with a TBC to get much improvement, about $600 new, $100-$250 or so on ebay.
