Will an upconverting DVD player work w/ this TV?

Here's my (near future) TV: http://www.plasma.com/panasonicplasma/TH42PWD8UK.htm It's EDTV, not HDTV. Will an upconverting DVD player 'upconvert' on this TV, or should I stick with a standard progressive scan? Thanks! Tom
