Hi all. I am trying to decide whether to buy a DVD recorder or a combo with VHS. I have many video tapes to copy, but once those are exhausted, I'm not sure how often I will use the VHS feature. DO you guys recommend one or other? Will one be good for the next few years or both?

Buy the recorder seperate, combos are cheap junk. If any of those tapes are copy protected, you'll need a seperate VCR and a stabilizer anyway. Don't buy a cheapo recorder, go with a name brand, I'd recommend Pioneer or Toshiba. I like the picture quality of the Toshiba the best of anything I've used, but I haven't had it long enough to say how reliable it is.
