Quick dvd/hdtv question

I'm in the process of buying a new tv and I've got a simple question. HDTV is not available in my area (nor cable) and I basically want a tv that will do a great job with dvds. Is there any difference in picture quality for dvds (on a progressive scan player) between an hdtv set (internal tuner) and an hdtv-ready set without the tuner? I've read that for dvds, the hdtv-ready is just as good (and I don't especially want to pay the extra $ if it doesn't show up for dvds). thanks.

You do not need an internal HD (ATSC) tuner to play DVDs. Just make sure you will not have a need for the HD tuner in the future.
