Hi,

I have a HDTV with VGA input port, and a HD DVD player with HDMI output port. How should I connect DVD player to TV, without loosing 1080i quality?

My HDTV also has S-Video, SCART and Composite (Y/Pb/Pr) input ports. Can I connect HDMI to any of these ports, without loosing 1080i quality? I also look forward to buy a PS3 which also has HDMI output.

I believe what you are calling a "VGA" input is called a DVI in the US. Cables with DVI on one end and HDMI on the other are readily available. There should be no loss in video quality with this conversion.

However, all the other inputs you list are analogue and are therefore not compatible with either DVI or HDMI, which are digital.
