I've hooked up this dual player and the video/audio for the dvd works. However, the sound for the vcr works but no picture. It's hooked up through composite cables but does have an s-video hookup. Tried both and no luck. Any help?
Have you tried pressing the DVD/VCR button to switch it between DVD and VCR modes?
Also, it may be possible that the unit you have may be defective. If you are able, consider exchanging it at the place of purchase. But, I would recommend getting seperate components instead of a combo unit. - Reinhart

I have a two year old Philips DVD/VCR combo that I have never had trouble with. Yesterday we put a movie in and it started to pause and skip. We tried using compressed air to clean out the eye but no luck. Then we tried a different DVD today and it wouldn't even play at all. The model is DVD750VR/17.
