I'm considering buying a new TV and just wanted to know what everyone thinks about the new SXRD LCOS TVs from Sony. I wasn't able to find any reviews online, probably because it's so new, so please share your experiences with this TV.

BTW, I know this TV upconverts to 1080p, but can it also receive 1080p sources?

1080P Provides Highest Resolution Available for Home Theaters, Museums, TV and Post-Production Studios
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (September 9, 2005) -- JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY features its new 70-inch and 61-inch widescreen HD-ILA rear projection TV's, the HD-P70R1U and HD-P61R1U. With 1920 x 1080 native progressive display and D65 color standard delivering studio-accurate color balance, these rear projection TVs are ideal for HD viewing in advanced home theater applications, HD edit suites and museums.

Its native resolution of 1920 x 1080 makes the HD-P70R1U and HD-P61R1U ideally suited to achieve an extraordinary HD viewing experience in the custom installation market.

"With a plethora of rear projection products being introduced into the market, these models stand out with pinpoint calibration to the D65 color standard," said Gary Klasmeier, D-ILA Product Engineering Manager, JVC PROFESSIONAL PRODUCTS COMPANY. Here's a rundown of whats on on JVC'S site.

70-INCH WIDESCREEN HD-ILA REAR PROJECTION TV
HD-P70R1U

Full 1920 x 1080 Progressive
Thanks to the newly developed HD D-ILA devices, the native resolution of the HD-P70R1U is 1920 x 1080, the highest resolution available today for home theater applications. This makes the system suitable not only for high-end home theater use but also for critical viewing venues such as museums and post-production screening rooms.

3-Chip D-ILA Technology
HD-ILA employs D-ILA, a reflective technology that boasts the best brightness available today. D-ILA devices are a highly sophisticated form of LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon.) D-ILA chips have no space between each pixel, with the highest aperture ratio (reflective area) -- enabling them to deliver a very bright, high contrast image. D-ILA combines the use of a single high-power user-replaceable lamp, three vertically oriented LCOS microchips (1920 x 1080, one for each RGB color), a precision focus lens, and an exclusive polarized beam splitter to combine all the color of the image. D-ILA microchips also have a unique inorganic alignment layer that provides longer device life and optimum performance in all operating conditions, so you can always count on images superior in resolution, grayscaling, brightness, and color reproduction.

D65 Color Temperature Standard
JVC's unique optical engine produces rich, natural colors with smooth gradations and low noise. The HD-P70R1U is precisely calibrated to the D65 standard, delivering studio-accurate color balance. All color gradations are natural and consistent with the original source, including absolute black and absolute white.

RS-232C Control
The HD-P70R1U is equipped with RS-232C serial control port to allow external computerized control for professional applications. A host of variables such as H/V positioning, contrast, brightness, tint, and much more including audio functions, can be fine-tuned to meet your specific needs.

Slim, Compact Design
The thin frame and reduced depth of the HD-P70R1U simplifies installation and makes it ideal for use in a variety of situations where space availability may be limited.

HDMI inputs
HDMI is the first industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface. By connecting an HDMI-compatible device such as some DVD players and D-VHS devices, high definition pictures can be displayed on the HD-P70R1U in their digital form.
HDMI , the HDMI logo and High-Definition Multimedia Interface are trademarks or registered trademarks of HDMI Licensing LLC.

ATSC Tuner / CableCARD Slot
A built-in ATSC tuner allows you to receive over-the-air digital broadcasts. The CableCARD slot eliminates the need for a set top box to descramble local cable programming (depending upon cable operator availability).

5th Generation D..I.S.T. w/Genessa
JVC's most efficient image processing technology to date detects and seamlessly scales any video source to display at 1080p.The new Genessa chip combines the strengths of many JVC exclusive image processing technologies into one high performance engine.

NEW 3D Y//C Comb Filter w/DTV Cross Color Eliminator
-- with the development of 5 th generation D.I.S.T.we were able to re-engineer our 3D Y/C comb filtering process. This new comb filter applies a highly advanced 10bit 3D Y/C separation process to eliminate the cross color and dot interference that remains within HD and digital broadcasting signals

Built-in speakers
For convenience, stereo Speakers (20 Watts) are built into the cabinet. For interfacing to external audio systems, multiple A/V outputs, center channel input, and digital optical connections are provided

Media Card Viewer
SD, MS, CF, MD/XD cards can be read directly, making the HD-P70R1U perfect for viewing still slide shows, as well as MPEG-2 recordings stored on memory cards and micro drives--including recordings made with JVC's popular Everio camcorders.
