I have a Samsung 32 inch tv and connected is a DVD through component cable and VCR through scart lead. I have in biult freeview digital but I cannot record directly from the digital channels. Any help??

Yep,
DVD recorders record analog signals, not digital. You need to take aan analog output (S-Video or RCA plugs) from your freeview box and direct that to an input on your DVD recorder. Which DVD recorder are you using? I am only aware of two manufacturers that have component inputs.
