Isn't S-VHS supposed to be better than coaxial?

I have a Dish Network tuner/DVR that I am connecting directly to a 46" Toshiba DLP (not through an A/V receiver). I have tried both coaxial and S-VHS, and to me, the coaxial picture is significantly better. The S-VHS seems sort of pixelated and choppy.

Anyone experienced something similar? I am using a high-quality S-VHS cable and RG-6 coax. Am I doing something wrong? Thanx.

When you say S-VHS I must assume you mean an analog S-Video cable. SVHS is a type of digital VCR format.

Coax will carry digital and analog signals, a DLP is a digital display, it stands to reason that a signal from the coax will look better than an analog signal via an S-Video cable.

PS: S-Video is all analog so your DVR is first converting a digital signal to analog so it will go through the S-Video output then your DLP is converting that analog signal back into a digital representation that can then be displayed on your screen. The more A to D and D to A conversions the more noise that is introduced into the final data stream.
