So i'm looking to buy a DVD player, to go along with my HDTV but I know that Im supposed to get a progressive scan DVD player? Is that better or the same thing as getting a HD DVD player. I plan to use component cable to hook it up.
Threre is no such thing as HD DVDs yet. They are on the way, but they have a bad habit of pushing back release dates, which haven't even been anounced yet. There are upconverting players that convert standard DVDs to 1080i. I think you have to use the HDMI output for the upconversion.
