My parents are planning on buying a new TV because our old Sony CRT is about to die after 13 years.

We were looking around and came across the "Samsung HL-R4266W".

I was wondering what do you guys think about it? Is it worth buying? Or do you recommend something else?

I am aware the DLP's may have a rainbow effect, but I haven't noticed it yet.

I was looking at Plasma, but a lot of the Plasma's come with EDTV resolution of (852x480). Which in turn wouldn't get the full HDTV experience. And I'm afraid of burn-ins and heat problems. My family watches nearly 10-12hrs of TV a day combined.

LCD came into mind as well. But it doesn't have a true black, so the color isn't what I expect it to be. As well as the blurryness of the image during a fast sequence. That blurryness will tick me off.

Our max budget is $2200.

P.S. - If you recommend a Plasma TV, please recommend one that comes with 1,280x720 resolution, and the new feature they started to have to prevent burn-ins (sorry forgot what it was called, but it shifts the pixels around to prevent burn-ins).

We are looking for a TV around 42" (Mitsubishi, LG, Samsung, Pioneer, Sharp). I've heard these are good.

Thanks in advance.

You're on the right track.
I've owned two Samsung DLP sets.
The "R" series is excellent.

Don't pay too much!
