We have a new 36' Sony Wega flat crt in our house and we have On Demand and can now pause tv. My dad keeps telling me not to leave it paused to long because it will ruin the tv. Is this true? I thought it was only true about old crt monitors and that was why people used screensavers.

It takes a long time for burn in to occur. Not to worry for pausing for a few moments.

Assuming you are talking about a direct-view CRT, I wouldn't worry about it. Like 'tom bong' said, it would take a LONG time...

Plasmas are the worst for burn-in, followed by CRT rear projection. Direct-view CRTs fall in between them and LCDs which, of course, are immune to burn-in...
