ok, which one is better?
the HD4 seems to have a better contrast ratio and better/faster color wheel.
but the HD2+ is .8 vs. .55 (not exactly sure what that means anyway)
are there any other differences?
which gives me a better picture???

Hmmmm, haven't heard about an HD4 chip. The best chip currently available is the HD2+; however that is going to change with the introduction of the xhd3 chip within the next few weeks. The xhd3 chip will show 1080p (that is 1080 lines progresively) versus the current 720p that the HD2+ chip show. The contrast with the xhd3 chip will also be much greater.

I own a Mitsubishi with the HD2+ chip and I am very happy with the picture and resolution.

i was told the improved HD3 chip was a 4th generation chip and some refer to it as the HD4 chip. I'm referring to the chips found in the samsung hlr5667 vs. the hlr5677.
i don't think a tv with the xHD3 chip will be in my price range.
i'm looking for the best 50-56" picture quality for under 3K.
