Trying to use Charter Digital Motorola Cable Box with a Sony VCR/DVD-R RDR-VX500. My goal is to be able to record from the cable box. I can play DVDs, VCR tapes, and watch cable TV as long as I control the channel via the cable box. This leaves me unable to record automatically with the Sony. The cable box is currently connected to the Sony via a standard cable. I tried the RCA but still no luck. It appears I have no way of either controlling the cable box with the Sony or even getting the cable channels into the Sony's tuner. Would splitting the cable out of the wall and sending it to both the Sony and the digital box work? At least I should ahve some recordable channels.Thanks!
