LG LST-3510A Non HD channels??

I just bought a LG LST-3510A DVD player with HD tuner but can only get my four local HD channels from my cable input. If this unit does not receive any non HD format it is useless. I can't imagine why anyone would buy this. Four HD channels and a DVD player! THATS IT?? What do they expect you to do buy another tuner for NTSC viewing? Anyone please help!!!

Unless you live in Canada that is all you will ever get thru a cable connection. In the US you must subscribe to cable and use their box, not buy your own.

Here are the specs for your box:

LST-3510A HDTV Receiver/DVD Player with HD-Grade Output
5.1 Channel Dolby Digital Sound
ATSC Tuner for HDTV Terrestrial and QAM Tuner for Digital Cable (Unscrambled)
All Format HDTV Receiver
DVI with HDCP Connector (HD Video)
Front Fluorescent Display for Channel/Station
Hi-Format DVD Player(1080i/720p/480p/i)
PSIP-Based Electronic Program Guide
RS-232 Serial Port
Simultaneous 480i
Unified Remote Control

Do you see anything about an NTSC tuner? NO you don't, that is in the LST-3410A for $300 more. You get what you pay for!

So, I subscribe to a standard cable, but if I were to connect this tuner/DVD player to it, it wouldn't recognize the signal or upscale the signal from the wall for better picture? I called my cable provider and they said I had to use their set-top, but didn't sound convincing that this box wouldn't work. You seem to know, so what do you suggest?
