My 61" Mitsubishi finally died and I am looking for a home run in a new BIG screen. No front projection since lighting is an issue. I would like some opinions on chosing between:
Mitsubishi Diamond Series WS-73711 = $6k Sony KDF-70XBR950 = $5k
Or is it worth the extra money and/or wait for the LCOS Mitsubishi or the newest Sony: Mitsubishi WL-82913 82" = $13k Sony KDS-70XBR100 = ?$10k
I've seen the 2 Sonys side by side. The kds70xbr100 is the most impressive display I have ever seen. They had it running in true 1080p and all I can say is "WoW". It was miles ahead of the 70xbr950. The 950 was by no means bad looking, it definitely can hold its own against most other sets around.
I think I can eliminate the Mitsubishi's. The CRT (old Tech and 6K) and Lcos (delayed image and 13K) are out. The only challenger to the sony's is the Hitachi 70-VX915. This is a new LCD set too. I have heard the pictures is better than the KDF. It is new to be released too. It retails for $8k. The question now is, is the KDS worth 2K more than the Hitachi and when can I get either. If anyone has seen the Hitachi please post.
