Home audio/theater system

My husband and I are adventuring into the purchase of a home theater system. The room we will be putting the theater system in is 20x30. He has his mind halfway set on a Yamaha reciever the 5460 model and for speakers he likes the Bose AM 15 series. I'm writing to ask what your opinion would be on a home audio/theater system. Just want to make sure we are getting what we need at the best possible price.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help

Good receiver but bad speakers. Not necessary bad speakers but for the money they are they could be better. Good Highs good mids very bad lows. I suggest you check out Velodyne speakers. You can see and read about them in this review below.

https://hometheaterhifi.com/volume_7_3/velodyne-cht-speakers-8-2000.html

Also check out there website. www.velodyne.com once there click products a list will pop up click CTS this will bring you to Velodynes sub and sat system.

also try Klipsch and Energy if you like sub and sat speaker systems. If you like to go full on with bigger speakers look for KLH,Energy,Klipsh,Boston Acoustic,KEF, others.

Here is a good site that has reviews of speakers, tvs, etc

www.audioreview.com

There are more speaker companies out there I just listed a few. But to truly get the right speakers you have to go and try each different companies out. Bose is good but you could do better!!

Hi,
I am planning on buying a sony HTD-DW830 home theatre system.I have a 27" flat screen wega tv and a pioneer Dvd/CD player that i want to connect to this system.I cant afford to spend more than 400$ on a home theatre system right now.
I would appreciate it if anyone could comment on this particular choice of a home theatre system.

I would like to know if anyone has heard of Acoustic Image 6.5 speaker. My parents just brought a pair and I have only found two pages with anything on them. One page was from audioreview which told me absolutely nothing and the other was a page that said there is a scam and it listed around 5 sets of speakers, the acoustic image 6.5's being one of those sets....
thanks!

Don't buy Bose speakers period. The last update made to a Bose speaker was in the 80's. If your looking for a $1200 Bose speakers.

Don't buy Bose speakers period. The last update made to a Bose speaker was in the 80's. If your looking for a $1000 speaker package, go with the Definitive Technology ProCinema 80. This package reproduces sound precisely from movies and music sources.

Let your ears do the deciding. Go to a higher end audio dealer and listen to these DefTech speakers. Then go to a local BestBuy or another store that carries Bose and cheaper speakers. Listen to the Bose, then listen to a really cheap setup like KLH or cheaper Sony's. You'll be supprised that a $150 KLH package has better sound than the outrageously priced $1200 Bose speakers.

Has anyone heard of Acoustic Image 6.5 mini-tower speakers. Please let me know. I have a friend who picked up a set and I can find nothing on them.

Thanks.

I have found nothing on Acoustic Image speakers either, anyone?????????

AudioReview.com has consumer reviews on the Acoustic Image 6.5 Speakers.

bose is dependant of thier "bass module" which means if the really good yamaha reciever you are using is too much for the bose speakers, or the sub gets killed by a power surge or brown out, you have NO sound at all! If you want a good speaker package try the energy encore 6 or the take 5 system (thegoodbuys.com)

Hi, I built a room 14x24 with a 14 foot catheral ceiling. The walls go up 10 feet. At 8 feet in each corner I prewired the room for speakers with #16 wire. I have a 61inch Hithachi HDTV. In back and above the TV is wired for speakers also. Please recommend the HTS system for this room.I will spend around $3500.00
