So i am trying to get some sick speakers for my dorm but i am a true novice in the area. I am willing to spend up to ~300 dollars for something but if i were to spend that kind of money I would want to make sure that I was getting something worthy. I live in a cluttered 15x20 dorm room and want something that will get loud with pretty good quality and bass that I can play an ipod/laptop with. I thought I had chosen until I learned i would need a receiver for my set up and then I realized I should look for help. So basically what is the best speaker system for such a room that I can get with a maximum of $300? (would be cool to spend less though if that seems like an unnecessary amount haha)
I originally was gonna order this setup, but now im thinking it will not be worth the money.

$300 for speakers ,sub ,and receiver not bad, but sick no. This set will do just fine for music if your source is iPOD and MP3 from a laptop. You would need to spend more to do better.
