Sony Via VGN-FW31M Laptop & Humax LU23-TD2 1080i TV
Sony has a HDMI Output and VGA
Humax has a HDMI input & VGA

Specs:

Humax 23" LCD TV LU23-TD2
PC Monitor VGA input - 1280 x 768
HDMI input 576p, 720p, 1080i

Sony Laptop Vaio VGN-FW31M

Graphics Adapter
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
Catalyst Control Centre:
Blue-Ray Player

When using Blue Ray playback on Laptop to TV via HDMI cable output

I'm getting the error message
"YOUR PLAYING ENVIROMENT DOES NOT SUPPORT PROTECTED CONTACT PLAYBACK"

which reading through forums is due to having both Laptop & HDMI output on together,

I tried using Fn+F7 to select just HDMI Output only, but when selecting HDMI Only
- the TV Only flashes a couple of times and then both the TV and laptop screen flash a few times.
then it returns to Laptop & TV But I cannot set to just the TV output

When on both Laptop screen and TV Screen - The TV screen correctly represents the Laptop screen.
Using Iplayer from the BBC - I have been able to download a HD Program from the BBC Website,
and played back on the TV, still unable to HDMI output to TV only

I have read in the forum that setting up the display for one screen will solve the BlueRay protection problem
and allow me to use the blueray player via the TV

BUT

I cant work out how to change the display to TV Only

I have a call in with Sony Support and also emailed Humax Support

any help welcome

I havent yet tried the VGA output to TV - as the PC input is 720p
but with the HDMI input I should get 1080i which I assume would be a much higher quality

Well it appears to be a probelm with the Humax which is around 2years old, not having the correct HDMI standard. Because "they" have decided to add this copyright protection, I cannot use an old HDMI input on the TV to watch a DVD I have purchased .......

I tested the laptop in the sony centre (excellent service) and it woirked fine on there TVs

so an a problem with Humax - or still have not answered my support enmail from Monday !!!!!
