Setting up LG HT303SU to TV

I recently purchased an LG HT303SU Home Theater and have connected the DVD player and speakers etc.
1. What I would like to know is if a normal TV can connect and play sound through this system?
2. The speakers connect to the device with 2 red/black wires with bare ends - you lift a flap and insert the bare wire to achieve sound, can you connect more than one speaker to the same connection?

"What I would like to know is if a normal TV can connect and play sound through this system?"

Yes, provided the TV has output R/L phono ports that can be connected to the LG's R/L AUX IN ports.

"can you connect more than one speaker to the same connection?"

Not recommended.

Help! I have also purchased the same HT system and have two problems

1) I can hear very low or muted sound only when playing a DVD. Obviously I've connected some cable incorrectly........but for the life of me not sure what I've done wrong!

Can you confirm for a newbie the proper cable set up between the LG HT303SU (DVD Home Theatre system) and a 32/LG/30 HDTV. Do I need other cables besides those included? I have an AV tri cable (red/Yellow/white) as well as a Yellow Monitor jack and an AM/FM antennae which came with HT system. Will this work, or do I need a multi colour component cables?

2) It is not clear the proper cable set up so that I can use the HT system to also listen to satellite TV as well through the surround sound speakers.

Greetings Susan,

It would be much better to connect the video via component cables (Y PB PR)

You could use the red/white part of the composite cable (red/white/yellow)then to connect audio out of your satellite box to the input of the HTiB. There are pretty simple instructions on page 5 of your manual. If you don't have it you can see it at the LG website.

BTW- you can shop for your component cable at www.monoprice.com

http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10235&cs_id=1023502 &p_id=961&seq=1&format=2

The hum could possibly be a video signal connected to and audio input and the way to test for it would be to play a DVD and disconnect everything but the power and speakers and see if the noise goes away. As you reinsert the connectors you should then hear when the problem comes back.

If the noise doesn't go away after disconnection there some more detail on the sound and where it is coming from as in which speaker would be helpful.
