'Overload' problem with Technics SADA-10 receiver, any suggestions?

Love my receiver but when it's set up for surround, it sometimes shuts down, citing 'overload' on the screen. I unhook the rear speakers and it works fine. Could it be the cable? The speakers?

In both cases, yes. Does it sound normal? Is this a new installation (has this problem always existed or has it just recently started)?

The wire could be pinched or simply too small and too long without noticing it audibly, then again the speaker could be blown or shorted but most times you can hear a difference when that happens.

Sounds great until it kicks out. Just recently hooked up the rear speakers and that's when my problem started. Somedays it pumps for a long time, no issue, other times it kicks out within a few minutes. I think I'll try some thicker cable, only running cheap stuff for now. Any suggestions?

A long run of cheap/small wire could be your problem.
