Hey.

I'm in the process of building a surround sound system. Currently, I have 2 Front speakers, and 2 Rear Speakers are on the way. Will i get anything out of this (will most receivers be able to recognize only 4 speakers)? I have a JVC RX8040B receiver.

Sure. You should be able to tell the receiver that you have no center channel and it will split the center channel signal between the two fronts. I ran my stuff like that for a long time before I finally got a center speaker.

Yup. Most A/V receivers have a center channel setting called "Phantom" mode. Set it to that and the dialog will be split between the two fronts.

On Bill's JVC, there is a specific setting. Under "Quick Speaker Setup" all needs to be done is to dial in via the receiver's multi jog 4.0 CH.

This yields

Main: Large
Center: None
Surround: Small
Surr. Back: None
Subwfer: No

Obviously, Bill would have to change this setting if he adds more speakers.
