DTS Decoder Ahead Of Reciever?

I have an old reciever that does nothing but Dolby Digital. I found a cheap DTS decoder, and I'm wondering if its possible to run this ahead of my reciever to add DTS to my speakers.
The old reciever is a Harmon Kardon AVR10, and does several surround modes, and includes a Surround Off (bypass) switch on the front.
Is this workable? Can I get DTS sound through my my reciever and to my speakers if I run the decoder ahead of the reciever?

Thanks in advance,

LA.

The reciever must have 5.1 (minimum) analog inputs to accomplish what you are asking. I don't remember your AVR10 having that input facility.

Thanks J,
I was afraid of that. Well, guess I'll just have to spend the $$$ on a new reciever. Guess thats the price we pay when we want great sound from our DVD collections.

Regards,

LA.
