Would this fry my HTiB?

Hi, proud to be a member of the forums. Awhile back I got the Philips HTS3440/37 HTiB. Its a nice system for me but I am a big fan of floor shaking bass which this system doesn't do untill higher volume levels are obtained. For this system the speakers connect to the wire (obviously) and then go into an adapter so..

On to my experience, I took off the adapter for one of the speakers and attatched it to some plain speaker wire which I connected to the amp in on the new sub (which has its own power supply and connects into an electrical outlet). Then attatched the other wire (with the adapter) to my home theater sub. Tried it out and was very proud as it worked marviously. Now I was wondering in the short or long run if this would ruin anything. I read of a post in the sub section that was kind of similar to this but it sounded as if it would fry up the amp in the origional home theater sub which I do not want so would this setup ruin anything as I don't feel like going through that type of thing?

I appologize if this sounds stupid and if this is in the wrong section but I'm not the most advanced in this type of thing and was just wondering :-)
Thanks

What kind of sub is it?
Passive or active?
Does it have high level inputs?

I'm not sure on the name so I'll check when I get out of school in a few hours. The only things I do know is: it's 3-5 years old it has its own power source since I have to plug it into an electrical socket and it has an amp in, which is done by speaker wire (what I'm currently using) and an rca cable with red and white inputs.
I think since it has its own power supply it doesn't put any/much stain on the amp from the home theater sub but still am not sure.

It has low level inputs (rca type connections) and high input (the way I use with speaker wires) and hi speaker outs (via speaker wire)
It is older I do know but on the back it says KLH Audio System S100ETH. It's a down firing sub on legs so it sits up off the ground 2 or 3 inches. This is how it looks:

rear (the white wires go to the origionals from the speaker, the red and black are the wires rigged for this to work)-[url=http://img226.imageshack.us/my.php?image=0000220ge7.jpg]
part rear+under area-[url=http://img219.imageshack.us/my.php?image=0000221nx6.jpg]
rear of the home theater sub (the top one is the rig)-[url=http://img219.imageshack.us/my.php?image=0000223ru2.jpg]
yeah I know it's a mess back there ;)
