I'm looking for an A/V receiver for my Dad's place. Something cheap, but has all the needed inputs. Here's what he has:
Small 5.1 speaker system
A pair of speakers wire up to another room, used for background music.
Cable box with S-video and, composite output, digital, and RCA audio output.
DVD /VCR combo. It has component, S-Video, composite video output, RCA and Digital audio outputs. co-ax in/out
VCR RCA input/outputs, co-ax in/out
Standard TV Video Monitor with component, S-Video, composite video inputs
I need a simple receiver that can take the best output from each component, and get it to the monitor and speakers with the least amount of cost. I understand that perhaps upward/downward conversion of signals may not be supported.
He just wants, for example, to push the DVD button on one remote, and be able to see and hear the DVD. He doesn't want have to fiddle with other remotes, or specify sources, modes, settings. (Except for initial setup)
It doesn't necessarily have be a new unit. (I could probably find a used unit on ebay) It just has to simple to use, and have all the need hook-ups
Any suggestions out there?
Thanks in advance for you help

Budget? I was hoping between $100-135. None of Dad's components are any particular quality. Just want to use the K.I.S.S. principal.
Thanks
