My AV has two HDMI inputs, one output. I plan to connect my cable box to AV via HDMI. DVD to AV via HDMI. I will also connect a digital optical audio cable from the TV output to the AV input so I can listen to MP3's which are stored on a media card in the TV.
My question: Will the above set up allow me to watch tv with only TV sound, and watch tv movies with 5.1? I'd like to do both. Normal tv with no AV, and TV movies with 5.1.
If not, what needs to be done? Do I need to connect the cable box HDMI directly to the TV, and run a separate audio cable to the AV?
