I have a Sharp DVD/CD Mini Component Home Theater System and I would like to know how to hook up my tv to this system so that I will be able to receive the sound through the speakers of the system. I have a cable box and VCR attached to my TV as well.

Connect the variable audio out of the TV to an auxiliary input on the Sharp. Set the Sharp for that input to that source and you are in business. There are some more comprehensive threads on A/V connections here in eCoustics. Have a look at some of those.
