So which do you think is better? The Pioneer VSX-74TXVi or the Denon AVR-2807.

The first thing that caught my eye on the pioneer was that the reciever was 140 watts per channel and the denon was 110 per channel, not a big deal?

Go with the denon, that pioneer wattage sounds fluffed so they are probably more similar than they appear in that regard.

Albert,
The receivers you mentioned are both capable and will not disappoint. Either one will serve you well, starting a poll on which one is better is pointless and will prove fruitless as one will be recommended over the other through a person's own preference.

You will have to make that decision on your own.

They both have excellent power supplies and have ample current to drive a lot of speakers on the market. What speakers will you be using? This will also play a role in your choice.

Personally, I find the Denon a little sterile compared to the Pioneer Elite series.

The speakers that I have are the Polk RTi10 and velodyne DLS-400R subwoofer. and have the center speaker and surround speakers but I might upgrade to better ones (probably the polk Csi5 for the center and FXi5 for the surround speakers.

I think that Polks really shine with Pioneer.
