Hi,

I want to set up a couple of rooms in a new house; one (large family room) for home theater, the other (a sun room) for two-channel stereo.
For the general HT setup, I have a newly purchased Yamaha HTR-5890, paired with JBL E100 fronts and a JBL EC35 center. I have no surround sound speakers, unless I use my old KEF C40's, which I had planned to use in the sun room, with an equally old Carver AVR100 receiver. Yes, they're old, but they still sound great -- just can't handle the new HT technologies.

Can someone recommend decent surround sound speakers and a subwoofer that would work well with the HT setup that I can get for about $600? Also, the new receiver has "zone" capabilities -- something I was told might be useful and may make my old receiver defunct. If so, I could reconfigure and maybe sell the Carver as a classic.

Newbie thanks in advance...

Check out the Athena ASB series. Or any rear surrounds in the Athena line. These should fall under your budget.

Do not get rid of the Carver. Or you can sell it to me for cheap:-)
