Childproofing a Screen

I'd like to use a fixed screen for my home theatre.

Because the room is multi-purpose, there will be children near the screen.

Do you have any suggestions to childproof the screen esthetically?

You could put up a chain-link fence one foot in front of the screen.
Ahh, but then you'd be susceptible to the dreaded "screen door effect".

Clear plexiglass, custom cut to fit over the top of the set and extending all the way to the bottom. Downward facing slit and pointing away, for the speaker section.

Hogwild,
Are you talking about a self-contained TV or a screen for a front projector?

I'm looking at the 92 inch Carada.

I'm thinking of a curtain that could be pulled in front of the screen when not in use, and pulled to the side (for sound and light performace) when in use.

Any suggestions for curtain material?

Are you worried about them getting it dirty by touching them or are you sorried about them poking it with something?

I know in my case I went with a flip up screen because of space, but also because of my little kids. I bring it down to watch movies and then flip it up when not in use. When they get older perhaps I will buy a real screen.

They're 9 and 12 so mostly carelessness, tennis balls, nerf darts etc.

The front and centre speakers will keep em away naturally. Threats should work too.

I figure curtains should prevent dirty hands and slow down projectiles. Doubling as sound deadeners and light blockers is another bonus.

My wife will probably pick the material anyways.
